Football

From President--- Darrell Schrag dschrag@us.ibm.com

NOA football members, Now that the 2012 season is over, it is time to think about next year. As most of you know, the Chicago area assignors meeting is typically (I believe) the Sunday after the Super Bowl. This year we have two new assignors taking over the responsibilities of the Fox Valley and North Suburban conferences that were in the good hands of Bob Brown for so many years. Ken Kesseler (kessjl@aol.com) is the new assignor for the Fox Valley and our own Jim Bernardi (bernardije@aol.com) is the new assignor for the North Suburban. I am encouraging those crews and individuals that have an interest in working their conferences to make sure that they have your (and your crew's) information as well as preferences (Saturday's, double-headers, etc.) before the assignor meeting in February. I realize this is also part of the open date sheet process but it doesn't hurt to make sure they are up-to-date before the meeting.
Thanks. Only 277 days until opening day of 2013.

Darrell Schrag

Basketball

President – Darnell Jones djay1960@gmail.com

From your Basketball President, As we all venture off into the season please remember your pregame, your stretching, your extra set of uniforms and your confidence Work hard and be positive. Remember, we're out there for the kids. I'd like to thank the basketball members for an outstanding turnout at the fall meetings. Our attendance has increased tremendously. To our new officials, please remember to use our experience officials if you have questions during the season or if you run into a situation that you may need clarification on. Please do not forget the first Friday of the month during the season when we ALL meeting after our games at a designated place to meet, socialize and run through the good the bad and the downright strange situation in our games. ? Taking a poll, if you still want a mid-season meeting please send me a quick email at djay1960@gmail.com stating yes for a mid season meeting. Depending on the response will determine the location.
Members of the board along with a few of our members are still working on NOA wears. Information will be sent out when received/reviewed. On behalf of myself and Mike Snodgrass, have an outstanding season. Darnell Jones Northern Officials Basketball President

Area 13 is on facebook - like us!

This is a great opportunity for basketball officials to give something back to the game and to a group that plays the game for all the right reasons. If you have never worked Special Olympics it is an experience I guarantee that you will enjoy. The NOA is a supporter of Special Olympics and we as a group need to step up and help officiate the Special Olympics Basketball games.

From our Chairman

If you have any items that you would like the Board to discuss at our January 14, 2013 meeting send them to Rocky Nelson @ (rockyref@sbcglobal.net). Good luck to our Basketball members as they start their season this weekend.

Personal Info-

Please send me any promotions or other information you would like to share with the NOA members.

Congratulations to Russ Wolken and his wife on the birth of their first child. The same goes out to Ed Araujo and his wife on the birth of their first child. I guess you have to find something to do when not refereeing basketball.

Congratulations :
