Bob Brown Night Out  Tomorrow night Friday December 7 is our annual Bob Brown night out. We will be accepting donations for the Bob Brown Fund at Journey’s End. We usually begin arriving about 9:30 pm and the last of us leave about 11:30- 12 o’clock. A rule of thumb for a donation is one game fee, but give what you can. Let’s get out and support this fund raiser. Other nights out are on January 11, 2008 and February 8,2008. Join us after your game.

NOAFORUMS.ORG---This is a new web-site created by Bruce Ruttenberg for the NOA. This Web-site is for Football & Basketball. You can log on and post questions and offer your Answers to questions already posted. This can be a great tool to get information on plays and rulings that come up during the season. Make sure you visit often.

From Mike Babicz

Please note that all members should keep their availability updated on quickbase and The Arbitor.  I have already had officials at ALL levels who I have been able to get games when assignors have contacted me for help at the last minute.

Also....please put a reminder for Special Olympics.....District and State tournaments.  As you know, they always need help.  You might want to note that the local District is now just at Deerfield this year....Jan. 27.  You could also put the others in if you want.....then note the links on the NOA website where they can go to if they wish to volunteer.  I'm preaching to the choir when I tell you, there is no amount of money which one can be paid to match the fulfillment working these volunteer games gives.  It'd be nice to see some additional officials join us for this worthwhile cause.

A reminder that I am still receiving a few dates from Quentin Road, especially the college schedule.  Interested officials should contact me ASAP and keep their availability updated on quickbase.....I've already filled college, varsity and lower level games from quickbase.

Thanks to all of those who helped me during my past tenure as assignment chairman.  I look forward to working with our basketball officials during the next two years.

Can't think of anything else right now.  I will be putting the numbers of officials who I ended up assigning for Heidlauf and Quentin Road, but will wait until the board meeting for that.

Thanks again.

Mike B.

The game will be televised on the NFL Network. If you get the NFL Network make a copy for Don. I sure he will appreciate it.

The meetings this year were very well attended. We averaged around 50 members per meeting again this  year again, as we have the last few seasons. Many fine topics were discussed by a group of outstanding speakers. I would like to thank Harry Bohn and Beth Sauser for taking time out of their busy schedules to come and speak with the NOA.
We instituted a new system for the top 15 this year and it has worked well. The Top 15 List is posted on the NOA website.
I have decided not to run for President this year and have enjoyed the six years I have served the basketball group. I want to thank everyone for all their support and help the last six years.
We held elections for new Basketball officers and they are as follows: President—Troy Whalen,
At large Rep.—Darnell Jones, and Assignor—Mike Babicz.

Personal Info

If you attain a new level during the year please let me know so that you can be mentioned in the Newsletter. Everyone should be proud of their advancement. Check the Official’s Handbook and the IHSA website for more details on the process. Remember every time you advance you give someone else hope.

Board Meetings
The next Board Meeting will be January 28, 2008. If you have anything you want to be discussed please send me an e-mail.  The next one will be May 19, 2008.
